SENATOR AD INTERIM INFORMATION, REQUIREMENTS, & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hawai‘i Pacific University’s Student Government Association (SGA) is seeking students to fill open Student Senate positions for the remainder of the academic year.
Open positions include:
Business Senator (1)
Natural & Computational Sciences Senator (2)
Professional Studies Senator (2)
Primary Campus Senator (2)
International Students Senator (1)
At-Large Senator (ex. Graduate, Military, Dual-Credit Students) (2)
The Student Senate is the legislative branch of SGA and represents students across HPU. Senators advocate for student needs, improve campus life, and work with University leaders to create positive change.
Senators are expected to:
- Complete at least 4 office hours per week.
- Meet with students, staff, and faculty.
- Serve on one or more committees.
- Implement a Senator Initiative.
- Stay active in communication and student leadership.
- Attend weekly Senate meetings every Friday from 1:00–3:00 PM in ATM MPR 1.
To apply, students must:
✓ Maintain at least a 2.5 HPU GPA (temporary exceptions may apply for students without an established HPU GPA).
✓ Be enrolled full-time unless exempt through their degree program.
✓ Remain in good academic, disciplinary, and financial standing with the University throughout their term.
✓ NOT be a full-time HPU employee.
✓ Be available for SGA meetings, events, retreats, conference calls, and activities.
✓ Attend Friday SGA Senate Meetings from 1:00–3:00 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.
✓ Uphold all duties, standards, rules, and expectations of their officership
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until positions are filled. Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee an interview.
