ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- You must be admitted to Hawai'i Pacific University to apply to the School of Social Work
- You must be "junior" status (60 credits) by the term you will be admitted (Fall 2024)
- You must have received a "C" or higher in the prerequisites (Introduction to Sociology (SOC 1000), Introduction to Psychology (PSY 1000), Introduction to Social Work course (SWRK 1010), and a Writing course (WRI 1200))
- You must complete and submit your application by due date posted
- You must have an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher

Not meeting one of the prerequisite or GPA requirements does not automatically bar admission. A student may be considered for probationary admission in the case of a lower than acceptable GPA or conditional admission in the case of a lack of a prerequisite. If you have special circumstances, speak with the BSW Program Director to see if you are able to apply.

Personal Statement & Degree Plan
- Reason for interest in entering the field of social work
- Assessment of your personal strengths and limitations
- Description of your current career goals and how pursuing a career in social work will help you accomplish these goals
- Examination of your life experiences (including work, volunteer, and personal experiences) and the relationship of these experiences to your choice of social work as a career

The personal statement will be evaluated regarding the above material and also will be considered a writing sample to evaluate your ability to express yourself in written form.
